Who is ベランダ?
What follows is our editor's take.
ベランダ is a three-piece: 髙島颯心 (vocals, guitar), 中野鈴子 (bass, backing vocals) and 田澤守 (guitar, backing vocals). They formed in Kyoto in 2014 and released the albums 『Any Luck to You』 in 2017 and 『Anywhere You Like』 in 2018. They moved to Tokyo in 2019, and their 3rd album, 『Spirit』, came out in 2024. It even leans into experimental rock in places, so the band has clearly grown a lot since the first record.
That first album, a six-song release that went on sale at shows on January 15, 2017, got people talking more than the band expected. A 2018 ototoy feature said that the mini album sold about 900 copies in its first six months, even though it was sold only at shows and a few shops, and that artists such as Quruli’s Kishida and ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION’s Gotch praised it. Two of the songs on it, 「最後のうた」 and 「Let’s Summer」, are among the band’s best-known. According to the singer, the album also holds the songs they still play most often at their shows.
I saw them in July at Spotify O-nest (here is our live report), and what stayed with me was how kind their music is. The melodies are plain and good, the lyrics keep company with someone who feels a little out of step, and the show left me wanting to be kinder to everyone. Tazawa’s guitar is the other reason I go: the band is calm, then every so often the guitar bursts out. Four of the six songs on 『Any Luck to You』 were in that July set (「早い話」, which opened the show, 「Let’s Summer」, 「野球部のノリ」 and 「巨大魚の夢」), so I am looking forward to hearing the whole album in this special show.
What to expect
In an interview with Lawson Ticket’s magazine, the singer said the songs from 『Any Luck to You』 will all be played, but the show will not be a faithful recreation of the album. They plan to play them with the skills they have now, and some songs may be rearranged. He also said he wants the night to be a thank-you to the people who have followed the band at its own pace for years.
So whether you know the 2017 record well or are coming to it fresh, this is a good night to hear how an old album sounds in the hands of the band today.
Listen first
Start with the music video for 「最後のうた」, one of the best-known songs on 『Any Luck to You』. It first came out as the band’s 1st single in October 2015, and it will be part of this show.
Another one from the album: the music video for 「早い話」, its opening track, released in December 2016 ahead of the album.
Not on Spotify? Open the artist page to find your favorite player. If you want to hear more of the songs they will play, look for 『Any Luck to You』 and try 「Let’s Summer」 next.

For directions and what to expect at the venue, see our Shibuya WWW guide: it is about a 7-minute walk from the Hachiko Exit of Shibuya Station, and the room is in the basement.
