About TOKYO gig radar

Tokyo has hundreds of small live houses where indie rock, emo, post-rock, shoegaze and math rock bands play almost every night. But most schedules are in Japanese, ticketing can be confusing, and the whole "+1 drink" thing catches almost every first-timer off guard.

TOKYO gig radar is an independent English-language guide that tries to fix that. We list upcoming shows at small venues in Shimokitazawa, Shibuya, Shinjuku and nearby areas, explain how Japanese live houses work, and help visitors find a gig that fits their taste.

This site is run by music fans who go to shows in Tokyo's underground scene. Some shows are highlighted as Featured Show. These are our editorial picks.

Schedules are compiled from the public listings of each venue and from official ticket pages. We are not affiliated with the venues or bands unless stated. Lineups, times and prices can change, so please confirm on the official ticket page before you go.
