What it's like
Marble is a compact room, so the stage is never far away. Listings describe it as a mostly rock-oriented venue, with indie bands from a range of genres plus DJ events and talk or comedy shows. The stairway down to the floor is covered in colorful, pop-style illustrations inspired by Kabukicho, which gives the entrance a distinctive, subculture feel.
How to get there
Marble is on the Seibu-Shinjuku Station side of Kabukicho. Listings give these walking times:
- Seibu-Shinjuku Station: about 1 to 2 minutes
- Shinjuku-nishiguchi Station (Toei Oedo Line): about 3 minutes
- JR Shinjuku Station, East Exit: about 5 to 8 minutes
From the JR East Exit, one listing suggests following the tracks to the main road (Yasukuni-dori), crossing toward Kabukicho, then heading along the street between the Seibu-Shinjuku Station building and the McDonald's. Turn right past the convenience store, and the venue is in a basement just along that street. Because the area is a maze of similar streets, search for "Marble Shinjuku" in your map app as well.
Another well-known small venue, MARZ, is right nearby.
