FLAT is a small live house in Nishi-Ogikubo, on the JR Chuo Line west of Shinjuku. It was converted from a rehearsal studio, and it keeps that studio feel: listings describe a floor where the stage and the audience are not clearly separated, which makes for a very close, relaxed show.

What it's like
FLAT is one of the smallest rooms on this site, with room for roughly 70 people standing. A listing says it was converted from the largest rehearsal studio in its group, about 45 square meters, and that there is no real boundary between the stage and the floor. In practice that means you'll be very close to the performers, and the atmosphere tends to feel more like a shared session than a distant concert.
Visitor comments describe it as a friendly, easygoing live house where the sound is surprisingly clear and a loud band can still play at full volume. If you like seeing artists up close, it's a good place to try.
How to get there
FLAT is a very short walk from the station. Listings give this walking time:
- JR Nishi-Ogikubo Station (South Exit): about 2 to 3 minutes
Nishi-Ogikubo is on the JR Chuo Line, between Ogikubo and Kichijoji. Not every Chuo Line train stops here, so check your route before you go. The building is the Rinky Dink Studio; search for "Nishi-Ogikubo FLAT" in your map app to check the exact spot, since the street is small. If you're exploring this part of the Chuo Line, WARP in Kichijoji is nearby.
