Who are Hammer Head Shark?

Hammer Head Shark are a Tokyo-based four-piece whose music sits between alternative rock and shoegaze. Their songs can feel hazy and expansive, but the melodies and vocals stay close and human—like someone finding the words for a feeling while it is still unfolding. That contrast is a big part of what makes the band compelling: layers of guitars create a wide-open atmosphere, while the voice gives it a clear emotional center.

The band released their first full-length album, 『27℃』, in 2025. For a first listen, try “ぼくらふたりきり” (“The Two of Us Alone”). The song is a strong introduction to their balance of soft-focus guitar color and direct, unguarded songwriting.

Second EP 『a i r』 arrives in November

Hammer Head Shark will release their second EP, 『a i r』, in November 2026. The title is styled with spaces between the letters: lowercase a, a space, lowercase i, a space, lowercase r. Track details and the release schedule have not yet been announced; the band says more information will follow.

The “air in hurt TOUR” gives the new songs room to travel beyond Tokyo, with dates in Chiba, Kyoto, Sendai, Sapporo, Yokohama, Kanazawa, Takamatsu, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Okayama, Osaka and Nagoya. Guest artists are TBA for the listed dates. The tour concludes in Tokyo with a solo performance at Shibuya WWW X.
