What it's like
HOME grew out of a plan to make a live house that people who weren't used to live houses could walk into easily. Its staff have talked about wanting to shake off the "intimidating" image of live houses. The lineup centers on acoustic artists and bands, but it covers rock, pop, hip-hop and indie acts too, along with DJ parties.
A bar counter runs along one side of the floor, so you can relax with a drink while you watch. The programming includes open-mic nights where anyone can sign up on the spot, and unusual collaborations such as shows with rakugo storytellers. With a capacity somewhere between about 80 and 120, it's small and close to the performers.
How to get there
HOME is a short walk down Miyamasuzaka from Shibuya Station. Listings give these walking times:
- Shibuya Station (Miyamasuzaka Exit): about 5 minutes
- Shibuya Station (JR): about 6 minutes
Head along Miyamasuzaka and look for the Gloria Miyamasuzaka III building; the venue is in the basement. The live house LUSH is right next door.
Tickets and the door
Ticket details are listed on each show's page on the venue's website, and many shows use e+, LivePocket or other ticket sites. Each show page on this site links to the official page when one is available. If you're new to the system, our first-timer's guide explains Adv/Door prices and reservations.
- Drink fee: A separate one-drink fee is collected at the entrance. Our live house guide explains how it works.
- All-night events: The venue notes that minors can't enter all-night shows, and it checks ID at the door. Bring a government-issued photo ID.
- Bags: A listing mentions only 8 coin lockers, so travel light.
- Last train: Check your last train home before you go. Most trains in Tokyo stop around midnight.
